THE GOLDEN POISON DART FROG (Phyllobates terribilis)
Is the vertebrate that produces the most complex neurotoxins on earth, They inhabit the region of the Colombian Pacific known as El Chocó.
For many generations, hunters in the region, belonging to the Emberá ethnic group, used frog poison as their most effective hunting method. They would rub the tip of the darts against the frog's back, and then shoot it with their blowguns killing their prey instantly. Although this practice was replaced by the rifle after colonization, the security chiefs of the area still carry their blowguns with poisoned darts as their defense weapon.
* In the 80s there was a civil war between communities in the region, where they shot and killed each other with poisoned darts from frogs.
